Lavinda Carter – CPRC Founder
Prior to obtaining her J.D., firm founder Ms. Carter had a diverse and extensive, 22-year human resource management career. Her HR experience in the food, manufacturing, retail, wholesale, and automotive industries encompassed in-depth work in employment law and discrimination matters. Ms. Carter is also certified as a Senior Professional Human Resources (SPHR).
Mr. Carter’s background is also complemented by her experience teaching an Introduction to HR Management course at McMaster University and providing her services as a guest lecturer in the Human Resources Management program.
While in law school, Ms. Carter performed pro bono work at the Osgooed Legal Clinic servicing the needs of low income people with unemployment insurance and wage claim issues. Due to her work at the Clinic, Ms. Carter was one of the first students to receive the Outstanding Client Advocacy Award. Other honors and awards include:
- Cornelius Honor Society Award (for scholarship, leadership and contribution to the Law School community)
- Honors Brief, Moot Court Appellate Advocacy
- First Place,Osgooed Law School Client Counseling Competition
